One of the sensors is probably failing.
Probably the distance sensor.(LDS)
When the unit is standing up, there is a cover box on the shaft.
One of the sensors is there and is usually the one that dies due to excessive side movement of the shaft which scrapes the lens on the unit or it could be dirty or full of oil, all these things will cause failures.

Always have spares on hand because they do fail.

Does it go through the pindeck, begin reversing and stop?
Might have to do with a lino micro switch but my bet is a sensor.

There is a place in the MGR menu where you can bypass it. Assuming a 3 speed?

The sensors have a red LED that lights when the beam isn't blocked so you can tell if it's working if you rotate the shaft with the unit powered up. (blinks)

Hope that gets you going.

I would clean both the Tach sensor and LDS sensor with warm soapy water.

Consult the manual it gives detailed instructions on how to do it.

I agree with Jerry's assessment. If it were the cloth you get a "lino did not wind" error.

I would adjust them....but they should not stop the machine.

Agree King,

When we first got out Kustodian plus i had a few lanes where the wheels for slowing down the machine so much at pindeck it gave it a drive error.

I had this problem a short time ago.

The Phoenix would stop about the camera area, with the forward interrupt error. I had just re-adjusted the frame and set up the machine after the machine had been dropped accidentally.

It turned out that with the last lane panel being set up on the same tilt as the pin deck, as happens in modern lane set-up's, the momentary wheels were too low causing the machine to stop at this point with the error message being produced. The adjustment of the wheels and all was well again. Just like MasterMike pointed out. (Though we have a really early Phoenix machine)

It could also be the speed factors are not set correctly. Check that the top speed factor is not too fast. This can cause the machine problems and force the error entering the pin deck.

Or one of the cloth micro-switches is bust and needs replacing.
